Born high on the granite slopes of the Paardeberg, the Chama Chenin Blanc 2024 captures the quiet magic of two old-vine vineyards: Jakkalsfontein Block 17 (planted 1986) and Sky Vineyard, perched 400 m above sea level.Hand-picked in late January, the fruit was whole-bunch pressed and left to rest overnight before slipping gently into old French oak barrels (300 L & 228 L) for a wild, natural fermentation.
Once malolactic fermentation completed, the wine was topped and left on its lees until December, deepening in texture and character before being bottled on 18 January 2025. The result is subtle, understated, and irresistibly refined. A tangy, granite-based delight showing notes of oatmeal, lanolin, fennel, and wet stone, balanced by a core of laser-like minerality.
Elegant yet quietly powerful, its the kind of Chenin that whispers its complexity rather than shouts it proof of Nuschka de Voss remarkable touch. Tim Atkin recommends drinking between 2025 and 2032, but its already showing grace and precision now. Pair with seared scallops, lemon-butter line fish, or creamy risotto to let its texture and minerality shine.
