Loch Gorm - 2024 Edition

Loch Gorm is the name given to Kilchomans annual sherry matured limited edition. Named after Islays largest freshwater loch neighbouring the distillery, the dark murky colour of the lochs water is reflected in the rich coppery tones of their sherry matured Loch Gorm release. Loch Gorm is exclusively matured in oloroso sherry casks from the renowned bodega, Jose Miguel Mart*n.

It is common for distilleries to use a variety of sherry producers but for Kilchomans consistent quality and character, it is vital that they source them all from just one bodega. Kilchoman select a combination of sherry butts and hogsheads from Jose Miguel Mart*n that provides two separate styles of maturation.

Heavily peated at 50ppm the 2024 edition was distilled in 2014 and matured in 23 oloroso sherry butts. These ex-oloroso sherry casks impart a combination of heavy sherry notes, spicy dark chocolate, rich fruits and burnt sugar. This balances beautifully with the Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus fruits found within their farm crafted spirit.

Nose: Waves of sweet BBQ smoke and cooked fruits with dark chocolate and dried figs. Palate: Delicate peat smoke combined with honey roasted nuts, cinnamon and malted barley. Finish: Fresh notes of citrus and rich toffee. Alc: 46% Bottle Size: 750ml
