Crafted by esteemed winemaker Chris Williams, The Foundry Syrah 2021 marks a significant milestone as the first vintage sourced entirely from The Foundry's own estate vineyards in the Voor Paardeberg region. Planted in 2000 on low-vigour, well-drained granitic soils, these mature vines yield fruit that embodies the unique terroir of the area.
The 2021 vintage is a testament to meticulous vineyard management and a commitment to expressing the purity and character of the Syrah grape. Tasting Notes: Appearance: Deep, opaque bright purple-ruby with a youthful rim. Nose: Enticingly perfumed bouquet featuring exotic hints of wild herbs, violets, and plum fruit, complemented by pronounced savoury and spicy notes.
Palate: Intense and rich, showcasing generous ripe fruit and structured, silky tannins. The wine culminates in a delicious, lingering fruit and spice aftertaste. Serving Suggestions: Best enjoyed at 1618C (6064F). This Syrah pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, hearty stews, or can be savored on its own to appreciate its nuanced complexity.
