This manual brings together the basic principles of education and training, modeling, task description and analysis, and the pros and contras of simulation as a training method. It describes the method used to design appropriate teaching and training programs and presentsthe main components of the simulator technology.

As an example, an interlinked training program which has been carried out is presented, with vehicles and simulators for professional drivers. This is followed by several advanced training programs which have also been tested.
