Does this portable air-conditioner require and exhaust hose?
Yes, all portable air conditioners do require venting via a window, wall or cavity using the window kit supplied, this is so it can vent the hot air outside of the room it is being used in.

Portable air conditioners pull in warm air, cool it, and expel the cooled air out of the front of the unit and the remaining warm air and moisture out of the back of the unit. It is this warm air and moisture that needs to be vented out of the room you are currently cooling.
Once you've positioned the portable air conditioner where you'd like it, you must set the exhaust hose through an opening to the outside so that it can vent hot air out of the room.
