The 1990s saw the collapse of the Soviet Union, with the subsequent abolition of the East-West conflict and the development, sometimes referred to as 'globalization'. Against the backdrop of these drastic changes, the contributors discuss various crisis phenomena and show that there is an increasing demand for regulation and guidance by international organizations, which, in turn, feel an increasing pressure for long overdue reforms and adjustment to the changed international agenda.
The authors of this present collection of articles are all involved in inter-national research or politics. They draw on their experiences of the rapidly changing economic, political, and cultural environment in their specific field of work and support the idea that international organizations should take an active part in the shaping of the globalization process.
