This book consists of 18 charming, incidental essays--some serious, some light--that recount hitherto unknown anecdotes of Franklin's life and Ms. Lopez's experiences of unearthing them. Though a few of the pieces have been previously published or presented as speeches, most are new. Ms. Lopez has included brief personal introductions to each of the essays, relating her reasons for writing them and in the process threading the various pieces together.
This well-written book should be altogether appealing to the general reader interested in Franklin and American history.
