As children we fear the unknown and darkness of the forest. As we grow older we admire its beauty and even take it for granted. But, its beauty and grander can only shroud us so long from the reality of what lurks within. In southern Vermont lies the quiet little town of Proctorsville. It is here the owner of The Black River Sugar House sets his sights on the Green Mountain State's Governor's office.

With the help of a well sought after product and through the use of cutting-edge science technology, he is financially able to mount his campaign. But, sometimes what we wish for isn't always what we get. Even though he is unaware of the consequences, he didn't care. With his dream fulfilled, he sits on Capitol Hill and soon forgets his roots.

What happens next is left up to Springfield's Fire Chief Ernie Sackett and Windsor County Sheriff Pete Suthers to figure out before it is too late. People are dying, but from what, they don't know.
